Calvary greeting and thanks to the Almighty God for bringing us to April 2021. The last two months were very busy ones, and consistently, God cheered us up with His presence in all we did. As usual, we recorded many cases of persons who surrendered their lives to Christ, and intensive discipleship work went on at both individual and group levels across the fields/nations where our missionaries labor.
26th
African Missions Summit (AMS 2021)
The 26th African Missions Summit (AMS 2021) has been
held. It was a massive success with over 400 missionaries and indigenous
believers from across our mission fields. The summit held on March 10-14, 2021,
at our Lamingo Missions Center had Doing Missions at Odd Times as its theme.
Thank God for the journey mercies, financial provisions, and divine protection
throughout the program. Pray that the impact will be indelible.
Lamingo
Mission Center and Bum Borehole Update
Lamingo borehole - third attempt |
For the second time in less than one month, the Lord blessed us with water in the most unlikely places. This time in our Haske - Kwanga, where we have drilled twice without success. The project gulped plus the storage facility (9000 liters) and stand for tankers, and geophysical surveys gulped almost N2 million. This borehole will service the Home of Grace (our ministry to orphans and vulnerable kids) and our School of Cross-Cultural Missions students. Please, join us to thank God for these remarkable breakthroughs.

Motorcycles for Our Missionaries
One of the beneficiaries of the six motorcycles |
As reported earlier, the need to equip our missionaries with tools to help them cover more ground as shortage of missionaries has consistently remained an enormous challenge. We cried out to God, our friends, and partners for resources to equip seven of our missionaries with motorcycles to extend the geographical locations they cover. To the glory of God, we were able to buy six brand-new motorcycles in the past month.
University of Benin/UBTH Alumni Fellowship in the
United States provided resources for three motorcycles, and an anonymous family
also provided resources for another three motorcycles. We are still trusting
the Lord for resources to complete the targeted number of motorcycles. God
blessed our Kamberi/Bokko/Dukawa missionary with a Sharan car and our leaders
at Ahole, Niger, with a Sienna car.
Paradigm
Shift in Missions Training
In the same way, there is a crucial shift from the West to the rest of the world, especially Africa; we are beginning to get amazed at the number of believers responding to missionary calls, especially from people groups that are unreached and ordinarily resistant to the gospel. At the current session of the Grace Foundation’s School of Cross-Cultural Missions (Batch 26), we have a Hausa couple from the Niger Republic; we have five Fulanis (one of them is a couple) from the Niger Republic, two Mumuyes, one Kamberi lady, among others.
The orientation is over, and the introductory lectures are already at an advanced stage. The students are coping well to the glory of God. We are grateful to all that God used to provide sponsorship for some of the students. We are so thankful for:
- Gospel Bankers Inc. for providing fund for sponsorship of the Alisabatou and Gambo Garba from the Niger Republic
- Christ Missionaries Outreaches for providing funds for sponsorship of Jaho Doudou and Gorjo Kaoufe from the Niger Republic.
- Anude Legacy Fund for providing fund for sponsorship of Nancy Adikwu, Emmanuel Hosea, Mary Joshua, Monica James, and Matthew Richard
- Madugwulikes for providing fund for sponsorship of Ibrahim Shaibu and Yilinte Michah Maisamari
- Kingdom Bride Bible Church International /Apostle Livinus Ofem for providing sponsorship for Luka Amos
- The Abahs’ family for providing funds for sponsorship of the Aishat and Dajuma Hassan.
We have five outstanding missionaries that we trust God for the fund to take care of their training. Out of these five, one of them is married with three children. The children need to be kept busy in school instead of wallowing about while their parents are in class. Also, the cost of feeding now is expensive. We covet your prayers in this regard.
Meanwhile, in March 2021, 2021, Batch 25 of the School of Cross-Cultural Missions graduated after one year of rigorous training. Some of them have resumed work fully while some others are getting ready to do so.
Home of Grace (HOG)
Thank you so much for praying for the kids. We are
impressed with their growth, academic performance, and spiritual upbringing. As
usual, Yakubu, Alheri, and Gabriel came first in their various classes; Timothy
came second, Naomi came third, etc. The accommodation facility is tight, and
the situations of many more orphan kids are desperate and cannot be ignored.
Besides orphans, we have missionary kids that are in danger of being corrupted
by our “other cousins” because of the nature of the field their parents are
laboring. We are working on a more extensive accommodation that will
accommodate more children. This is undoubtedly a challenging one, but as you
pray along with us, the project will be completed.
The school resumes on April 12, 2021. That is so
close, and the school fees, as usual, are staring at us. Pray along with us for
funds to take care of the fees with ease and get some foodstuffs ahead of the
proposed increase in the price of fuel which will undoubtedly result in
hyperinflation. Pray for the kids that they may continue to grow in God’s grace
and that all the investment being made on them will not be wasted. Pray for the
staff directly in charge of them, especially Sister Joy Onoja. Taking care of
many kids can be very stressful.
Insecurity
on the Mission Fields/Devaluation of Naira Impacts on our Missionaries
The mission fields are increasingly dreadful.
Kidnapping/abduction are becoming a norm in some places. Traveling in
and out of some of the fields is extremely dangerous. Pray for our missionaries
for divine protection.
Life in some of our mission fields is becoming
unbearable due to both inflation and devaluation of the Naira. The adoption
allowances paid in Naira are no longer realistic because the value is less than
half of the previous value. The cost of rents (for fields where we still rent
houses) is outrageous. In places where we are embarking on building projects,
the Naira exchange rate is ridiculous. We need partners that would help sponsor
missionaries and their wives for income-generating projects like saloons,
freezers to sell ice blocks, sewing machines, etc.
Update on Church Building Among the Desert Tribe
We reported that we began a church building among the
desert tribe in one of our neighboring countries. This massive breakthrough has
remained a source of joy for the entire body of Christ in that field as none
existed. We have spent N1.9million to raise the church from foundation to
window level. We will require over N464,000 to carry out the lintel work and a
lot more for roofing, doors, windows, flooring, plastering, etc.
The church building at the lintel level now |
At Gobirawa field, the missionary couple built a
mission house with mud blocks; we completed it for him by roofing it, plaster
it, did the flooring, fix doors and windows. Your partnership made it possible.
Health
Issues
Our dear missionary, Ladi Ekpa has quit the field due to persistent health challenges. She felt persuaded that in addition to seeking medical help, she needed some time to rest. We covet your prayers for her quick recovery. Andrew Marafa also has challenges with his eyes. After seeking help and getting immediate relief from the local health center, we feel he should for thorough medical help from specialists at the Teaching Hospital. Kindly join us to pray for speedy and full recovery
Appreciation
Thank you for your partnership. You have inspired us
to push on with the work despite the difficult circumstances. We pray for you
always and trust that the Lord will bless you beyond your imagination. We covet your prayers for more laborers,
divine protection, divine provisions, and any other way the Spirit of God will
lead you. We have new fields we want to pioneer, and we certainly cannot do
without God.
