September 2013 Missions' Update

Dearly Kneeling Partners,

Calvary greetings in Jesus name. Thank you so much for your consistency in joining hands with us in the task of reaching the unreached people. Words are inadequate to capture how your partnership has remained great encouraging and inspiration to us. It is a great pleasure to bring the good tidings of what your partnership with us have accomplished in our pursuit of advancing God’s kingdom in the dark places of the earth the past one month and to update your prayer list with the current challenges we are going through.

Media Outreaches Impacting Niger Republic
Broadcasting the gospel at Castro
Our media work among the unreached people is impacting many lives. More and more persons are responding to the gospel we are preaching/ teaching across radio stations in Niger Republic. Our Country Director for Niger, Liman Danwauya reported that many Muslim youths are coming together to sit round their radio to listen and discuss. As a result, in some of the villages, the youths are inviting the missionaries for discussion.  In addition to regular radio broadcast, we take the gospel via Jesus film to several villages but not with challenges. The last time eight villages were targeted for film show but before we could meet our target, the generator got spoilt. The generator has since been taken to Niamey for repair but it has not been returned. Also our motorcycle that takes the missionaries around the villages is
ageing and its maintenance has consumed so much money without any improvement. Please pray that God should provide fund for us to buy one or two  brand new durable motorcycles that can withstand the desert sand and bad roads.

Research Resumes in Benin Republic
Grace Foundation team at Benin Republic
After a long break due to shortage of missionaries, effort was made to resume work in Benin Republic among the Libentee people in Segbana area, Northern Benin Republic last month. Sunday Musa led two other missionaries for a research trip to the area with the view to deploy new set of missionaries there soon. They were well received by the village head and the community. Pray along with us as we pray through the information gathered and prepare the missionaries that will reside among the people as well as trusting God for the necessary fund to cater for accommodation and initial logistics.

Dukawa Church in North Central Nigeria Completed
Indigenous worshipers at a Grace Foundation field church
At last the Dukawa people of Borgu Local Government of Niger State now have a church they can call theirs. The converts on the field contributed money and offered free labour to raise the building to roofing level with mud blocks but could not complete the project. When the rain started washing down the building we began to pray for fund to plaster the outside. We are grateful to God that in the month under review, we completed the plastering, flooring and fixed the doors and windows.
A new work that started among the Papiri people is growing steadily. As at the last count, we have an average of 60 converts alreamy coming together to worship the Lord in their mother tongue. One of the converts is from Muslim background while the others were idol worshipers.

Mobilising the Ghana & Nigeria Church for Missions
Praying for those that responded to mission call at Ghana
In 1995, God granted us entrance into Ghana. Since then, we have limited our labour to mobilising the nationals to reach the unreached people in their country and beyond. In the last four years, we have been privileged to partner with mission House International in bringing the need for world missions through the Congress on World Evangelism at Suhum, Eastern region. The result for the recently held congress was quite profound and will remain indelible. Many persons answered God’s call to become missionaries. At Accra Ghana, we spoke at the Ocean of Life Assembly and at the Redemption Camp.

On a sad note, our National Director, Rev. Tony Ocloo lost his wife after a brief illness. He and his children covet our prayers. On a positive note, we are grateful to God for blessing our friends/ colleague Esinu and Jerry Albey with a baby boy after 12 years of marriage.
In addition to our ongoing work on several fields in Nigeria, we gave attention to mobilising the body of Christ for missions as part of our effort to raise the need for more missionaries in frontier missions. God opened several doors for this purpose. Firstly, we were privilege to speak at the Life Theological Seminary to a group of students from across Nigeria convened by Global Proclamation Academy.  The students were incredibly impacted. we had an eye opening National Conference with the Christ Ambassadors of the Anglican Communion on the theme Mission Passion Driven Life. Again, many lives were impacted. Many answered God’s call to missions. It was Awesome.

Severe Persecution in Niger Republic
The level of persecution at Bankoula and Ahole is unparalleled. The little kids are mostly at the receiving end. One of our boys was beaten so badly by his teacher because of his faith in Christ and was threatened to deny Christ. He is standing firm for Christ. We are trusting God for fund to relocate him to another village so he can resume school again. Several others at Ahole were given money to change their religion but they insisted that the relationship they have with Jesus is superior to money. These testimonies have really strengthened us greatly especially that they took their stand for Christ in the context of severe famine/ hunger when they seriously needed money to feed.

More persons accepted Christ and discipleship work is going at Tibiri, Kwalan Gobirawa and other places where our missionaries Blessing and Emmanuel Boubacar, Issah and Rehila Maliki and Abigail and Liman Danwanya are labouring with their converts. They covet our prayer. Support for foodstuff especially for the vulnerable kids and widows they are catering for is a great need in the field.

Home Of Grace (HOG) Kids makes Input in evangelising the Nations
The HOG kids in Nigeria and Niger Republic are all doing fine. The ones in Niger in particular have been doing great in evangelism. They sometimes go to the surroundings villages to share the gospel with other kids and sometimes adult. They have proven great in Christian character also. Pray along with us that they maintain the testimony. The kids in Jos are fine. We engaged them in the Summer Holiday Classes so they can improve and prepare for the next academic session. The school session will resume on September 18, 2013 and we need a lot of money to pay their school fees, buy textbooks and get some of them new school uniform. Those in Borgu are also doing great but since their building collapsed, shelter has been a major challenge. N220,000 is needed to roof the field leader’s residence. He will then accommodate them until we are able to get a befitting shelter for them.

New Frontier: Engaging the Amazon People of Peru in Latin America

Peru flag
Almost every year, God takes us to new frontier in missions. Starting from September 13, 2013, we will be pressing further into the Amazon from Peru (Not Brazil) angle. We will be based in the Peru city of Puerto Maldonado. It is in Southeastern Peru in the Amazon forest 55 kilometers (34 miles) west of the Bolivian border on the confluence of theTambopata and Madre de Dios River, a tributary of the Amazon River. It is the capital of the Madre de Dios Region. Nearby are the Manú National Park, Tambopata National Reserve, and Bahuaja-Sonene National Park.

These are some of the most pristine primary rain forests in the world, which include several oxbow lakes and clay licks, where hundreds of birds including macaws feed on clay. We are thankful to our friend and Anchorperson in Brazil, Douglas Martin for assisting us with resourceful contacts that are helpful in connecting us to the church in Peru. We ask for your prayer cover as I takeoff to join our team leader for Latin America region, Denis Tavares in September. He has contacted churches in Peru that will provide logistics support and open their doors for mission awareness campaigns. Our long term strategies which is applicable to this part of the world is mobilize and equip the locals to do the work around them. Pray along with us that this labour will yield eternal result that will change the destiny of those in the Amazon. Pray that God will step in and provide all the fund needed for this new capital intensive work and favour from our partnering churches in Peru.

Advanced Missions Leadership Institute (AMLI) Kicks off in October
In addition to our regular missions training, GFIM will from October 25 to Nov 6, 2013, bring together 24 teachable mission leaders who desire to move to higher level in missions for 10days of in-depth lectures on: Preparing for Foreign Missions, Advancing Missions via ICT, Remaining Unreached People Groups and Networking and Ministry Opportunities. Others are: Integrity Issues, Current Trend in Global Missions and Coping with Financial Pressures in Ministry.

Some Christian leaders have registered their interest. We still have more vacant spaces for additional leaders. Only serious minded persons ready to work and be impacted need to apply. Other details will be emailed to applicants. Final selection will be communicated to successful applicants.

Appreciation/Urgent Needs
Again, we are grateful for your partnership which has helped us to press forward despite all odds to contribute our quota to the advancement of God’s kingdom. We pray for you often that God of heaven will replenish your source and reward the labour of your love.  In view of the prevailing security situation, we have been very selective with reporting news on some of our fields and have deliberately concealed some of our missionaries’ name. We however want you to consistently extend prayer cover on them for good health and divine protection. The health of five of them in particular is failing and they really need to go for proper medical check up if the fund is available. Others need fund for school fees for their children. Many of our building projects are crawling due to inadequate fund. We also need fund for the school fees of our Home of Grace kids, new uniforms, textbooks, etc. Pray also for our missionary trainees and for more labourers needed to handle some of our new frontiers.

God bless you.
