October 2018 Missions' Update

Dearly Beloved,

Greetings to you in Jesus name. We trust that God is keeping you despite the harsh security environment. We are writing to thank you for your concern and prayers during the last crises that engulfed Jos. In answer to your prayer, we were able to safely move over 60 members of the Grace Foundation community from Furaka to Diye in Zaramaganda during the recent crisis and 24hours curfew where we all stayed for one whole week. We have returned to our mission base now.

The Advanced Missions Leadership Course for 2018
The Advanced Missions Leadership Course for 2018 session has come and gone, but the
2018 Advanced Missions Leadership Institute Graduates
impact will remain incredible. No fewer than 38 persons representing ten mission agencies/churches fully participated in the course. We are forever grateful to God for making it possible, and we are incredibly thankful to you for your prayers and financial support, may the Lord bless you richly. We are grateful to our facilitators/resources persons, Prof. Samuel Odeh, Brother Ikechukwu Ugwuanyi, Dr. Samuel Afolabi, Dr. Sam Alaha, Dr. Bitrus Audu, Rev. Gideon Ekele, Rev. Bala Usman, Bro. Agaba Okwoli and Rev. John Olarewaju.

Update from the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camp - The New Mission Frontiers
2nd Visit to Heipang IDP Camp
Worried about the pain and deprivation of the persons displaced from the various villages around Jos by the Jihadists are subjected to, we visited Heipang Internal Displaced Persons (IDP) for the second time in one month and the camp at Bokkos once. Each of the visits, we took along with us for foodstuffs and toiletries made possible through the support of our partners, and we are grateful to God that the donations made a huge difference. The traditional ruler and the camp officials and the displaced persons were extremely appreciative and pleaded for prayers that the government would do the needful so they can return to their ancestral home.

While some of the displaced persons are anxious and praying earnestly for the return of peace so they can go back home, many kids have no place to go. For example, Timothy was one of them, both his father and mother were killed this year on June 26, by the Fulani herdsmen. Rosa and Domshak still have their mothers spared by killers but are now fatherless. They are traumatized and need both spiritual and psychosocial help. We met them helpless and decided to three of them. We have moved them to the Home of Grace. We trust the Lord to bring them up in fear of the Lord and provide all that parent are supposed to provide for them by God's grace. They have resumed school at Trinity Academy. As the Lord provided, we will take care of them until they grow to the point of taking care of themselves. We covet your prayers for grace and resources. We already have a partner who has indicated interest in providing funds for the upkeep of one of them. As God make resources available, we will engage more of them.

Home of Grace (HOG) Update
The school session of our  HOG kids was interrupted for one week by the crises. We relocated them also for one week to avoid or somewhat reduce the trauma resulting from the terror attack. They are back to the home and have resumed school. They are growing in every aspect of their lives, and we are impress and grateful to God that our labor over their lives is yielding the desired result. Please join us in praying for the five new kids that have just been newly admitted to the home (the three from the Heipang IDP camp and two others)
We still require God’s intervention for fund for some of the HOG kids who are not yet adopted to buy their books, school bags, sandals and pay their school fees. Thank you so much for all you have been doing for these kids

SOCM Resumes against All Odds
The 2018/19 session of the School of Cross-Cultural Missions has resumed. Their resumption coincides with a new outburst of ethnoreligious Jihad. Our training center falls under the community that 24hours curfew was imposed upon. We thank God that despite the tension and the crises, our students are courageous are resolute. Please pray along with us that the crises should come to an end and that the rest of the students whose resumption were delayed due to finance and the crises should resume as soon as possible.

We are bereaved! Our hearts are broken
A graduate of GF Advanced Missions Leadership Institute and very dear friend and
Deacon Abraham Frama
a colleague, Deacon Abraham was went missing about two weeks ago on his way from Yola to Jos. We were worried and set aside time to pray fervently for his release, thinking he was abducted. Days after the search, news reached us he was found dead in Jos with body parts missing. Please, pray for comfort for his family and ministry team.
Deacon Frama was Principal of Baptist High School, Jos for many years. Through him, we had inroad to the school where we had one full week of mission mobilization. He leads Global Commission, a mission agency with over 30 missionaries working among unreached people in the extreme North of Nigeria. We were privileged to train many of his missionaries.

Appreciation/Prayer Points/ Conclusion
Thank you so much for your consistent partnership. Through your prayers and financial support, we got to where we are today. We continue to count on God to use you. Please, pray along with us for:
1.     Admission to the university for four of our Home of Grace kids. We are depending only on God as efforts in time past have failed to yield result.
2.     Fund to complete our building projects across many of our mission fields.
3.     We need support for our School of Cross-Cultural Missions that have no support or scholarship and for the running of the school.
4.     Support for several missionaries with the responsibility of children school fees and health challenges and divine protection for them including the staff in Jos.
5.     Pray for the return of peace to Jos and for all our members. Brother Adeshola was shot during the crisis. He was operated upon at Jos University of Jos Teaching Hospital. Pray for a quick recovery.
6.     Pray for God’s blessing upon our partners, their family and the leadership of the ministry.
7.     Pray for me as I travel to UK for a training and to United Arab Emirate for a consultation.
8.     Thank the Lord for all He has done and He is still doing for us.
