November 2012 Missions Update

Calvary greetings from our Furaka mission base here in Nigeria in Jesus name. We give God praise for enabling us to be part of His bond servants in the month of November. The last one month was characterised with lots of accomplishments for His glory which to a large extent brought great joy to God’s heart. For many of our staff and myself as a person, we cannot thank God enough for journey mercies granted to us as we move from one corner of the earth to another seeking to enthrone Him as Lord over the nations. We are grateful to you for your immeasurable input in bringing to pass His plans upon our lives.

Missionary Retreat ~ Furaka
Staff  @  the retreat
Just last week, we concluded a very successful capacity building retreat for all our missionaries in West and Central Africa. We focussed primarily on Holistic Development for Concrete Progress in Life and Missions. The retreat lasted for one whole week and was very intensive. Femi Oyerinde and I were the resource persons all through. The missionaries testified that the retreat will no doubt impact on their field work. The retreat also featured interactive sessions, presentation of 2013 budget by the field leaders and above all sessions of corporate prayer and personal deliberation with God. We are glad, that they have all returned to their mission fields safely.

Field Report ~ Niger Republic
Blessing & Emma Boubacar, Niger Republic
Reports from all our local and foreign mission fields revealed that the heavy downpour and farming season have impacted adversely our outreaches this season. From Afole in Niger Republic, Emmanuel & Blessing Boubacar reported that the trend from May to November every year is same. The people go to the farm from morning to evening and comes back very tired making evangelism very difficult but God has continue to bring them salvation miraculously. Some severely sick people come to our sick bay and have no choice but to listen to the gospel of salvation. Consistent open doors through radio broadcasting have also been very helpful. The National Director, Liman Dan-Wauya and his wife reported that shortage of food paved way to express the love of Christ to the people. Also, as they identified with the people on special occasions like new birth, death, marriage ceremony and caring for the people in times of need have continuously open the heart of the people to the gospel. They have network with other Christian groups to organise an indigenous discipleship campmeeting which attracted no fewer than 1000 Nigeriens where the word of God was deeply taught and many lives thoroughly transformed.

Field Report ~ Chad Republic
From Chad, Central Africa region, Samuel Benuodji reported that migration has continue to frustrate his efforts as many of the persons he was working on left looking for greener pasture. Nevertheless, out of the four families left, two are been prepared to move to Jos for missions training so they can effectively serve their people. His wedding was put off in the last minute due to some challenges but he is thankful to God and waiting patiently for His timing. The Arabic language been spoken on the field is peculiar but he is gradually catching up.

Fields Report ~ Bum,Zull, Bolu, Dukawa and Kamberi Fields
Nuhu Karanbana and his wife
From the Bum field, Bulus Ilaya and Ladi Ekpa reported that despite the heavy rain, God has continued to help them. Just recently, a lady walked to the Bum mission station and approached them to lead her to Christ. She was genuinely saved and had since then followed Christ closely. According to them, the church building has become so small and plans are in top gear by the converts to build a befitting church. In view of that commitment, the converts cannot focus on repairing the mission house that is leaking profusely. They covet our prayers for funds to put the house in order.

Stella Ella reported that the Zullawa converts are making tremendous progress in their walk with God.  In addition, they are beginning to take responsibility in ensuring that their place of worship takes shape. They recently bought 12 chairs. She added that the devil is furious at the progress and is attacking from all front. Just few days back, she was stung by a bee. The pain lasted for three days. At another occasion, her health was severely attacked. We are thankful to God that she is healthy and strong now. Moustapha and Josephine Oumarou reported that Bolu field also had her share of challenges ranging from severe famine to sickness and increased poverty. They are thankful to God that some of the converts that left the faith are beginning to return and the consistent ones are growing stronger.

Barnabas  and Fatima Haruna reported that one section of the church building at Kuble eventually collapsed despite every effort made to safeguard it. The rock formation at the feet of the Zaranda Mountain is also making the mission house to give way. Efforts put in place to repair the building do not seem to be helping. Also, effort been made to raise fund for entirely new mission house is not yielding result. We may resort to building two round hut in the interim.

Integral Missions ~Home of Grace (HOG)
Some of our kids at the Home of Grace
We had our first graduate at the Home of Grace (HOG) formerly Unreached Children Home in October. Ayuba Ajikovi, from Kamberi background in Niger State wrote his last examination on October 29, 2012 and all things being equal, he will proceed for National Youth service Corps (NYSC) as a University of Jos Economics graduate in February 2013. We are grateful to God for this landmark. Thanks to all others who prayed and made financial input. To the glory of God, we have paid the school fees of all the others and bought most of the compulsory textbook. Our greatest challenge now is the foodstuff. We anticipate higher inflation and trust God to buy substantial quantity of foodstuff. Mary and Racheal are also due to register for their NECO and West Africa School Certificate examination. Two others, Blessing and Salisu are to remedy their Mathematics. Ishaya, Michael and Daniel successfully resumed in Junior Secondary School (JSS). Victor is coping with Creche and Priscilla has commenced Senior Secondary School. We need a volunteer that will all the High School students extra attention in English and Mathematics. We covet prayers for all of them.
Missions Mobilisation

Missions Mobilisation/ Missions Training
I had two weeks of intensive missions’ mobilisation at the United State of America. Firstly, I served as the guest speaker of the Boston Missions Congress hosted at the Life Assembly of God, Medford headed by Pastor Salmon Silver. After the congress, I was opportune to share God’s word at two prayer squads that focus on praying for missions and at the Missions Service of Marlborough Assemblies of God Church. I was highly privileged to speak at the Missions seminar at Jacksonville Church headed by Pastor Rodrigo and later at the Philadelphia Assemblies of God’s Church. The responses at the various meetings were huge encouragement. We give all the glory to God. We are extremely thankful to our dear Carminha Ramos who was used of God to facilitate the entire mission awareness campaign. Fabio Castro was very helpful in all the logistic and made my trip very comfortable. Marcelo Hausman and Jandira Coelho’s hospitality is unparallel. I pray that God will bless all of them beyond what they ever prayed for or imagined and that the impact of the meetings will be indelible. I also had the opportunity to minister on radio.

Our Training Coordinator, Mrs. Bola Showemimo reported that prospective missionaries on training at our School of Cross-Cultural Missions were sent to various mission fields for four months of intensive practical sessions. They are expected to work under the supervision of experienced serving missionaries as well as have a taste of pioneering by planting at least one or two churches where none exist before returning.

Prayer Needs
While thanking you for your input that has brought us thus far, we want to request that you kindly join in praying for us on these items:

1.       1.  Divine protection for our missionaries labouring in volatile region infested with Boko Haram Terrorists.
2.       Journey mercies for those travelling around for mission mobilisations as well as those penetrating new fields including closed nations (reports cannot be given in black and white for security reasons).

3.     2.   Funds for replacement of several of our building – churches and mission houses brought down by the heavy flood, rainstorms, rock formation, etc. Niger Republic alone needs N187,000 urgently to rescue the mission house bought for us by Chapel of Good news some years ago and other pressing needs. Other fields put together needs slightly over N3million.

4.      3. Fund for foodstuff for the orphans and vulnerable kids at our Home of Grace. Many of those supporting them with monthly N3000 that is now grossly insufficient have dropped. There is likelihood of famine due to the recent flood and we will be in for trouble if nothing is done to secure food ahead of time. At least N400,000 is needed for the foodstuff that will last for a while.

5.       4. The School of Cross-Cultural Missions students who are currently on practical sessions.

God bless you richly.
