But the Angel of Jehovah put a curse on Meroz. `Curse them bitterly,' he said,` Because they did not come to help the Lord Against his enemies. Judg 5:23(Living Bible)
One may be right to assume that God Almighty is too big to need help. That was my assumption until I read the above passage. Even after reading through over and over, I tried all my hermeneutical principles learnt in my seminary days to debunk the idea that God actually needs help. I felt the word help must be figurative but the language is clear. The Angel of God is seen here to be very furious with Meroz. Reasons: They did not come to the help of the Lord against his enemies.
Grace Foundation Inland Mission is one of God’s many agencies planted to take the gospel to the dark places of the earth. For the past 20 years we have represent God effectively and today, we are delighted that many nations of the world have experienced the light of the gospel because we obeyed God to go. Many young men and women volunteered to avail themselves as extension of God’s hands to dethrone the enemies and enthrone Jesus as Lord. They did this not minding the challenges of how they will are and take care of their families. They are familiar with God’s passages like:
“What soldier in the army has to pay his own expenses? And have you ever heard of a farmer who harvests his crop and doesn't have the right to eat some of it? What shepherd takes care of a flock of sheep and goats and isn't allowed to drink some of the milk? “(1 Cor 9:7).
“Endure hardship with us like a good soldier of Christ Jesus”. (2 Tim 2:3-4)
38 and anyone who does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. 39 Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. ( Matt 10:38-39)
God has not failed us. We may have not advance to al the nations we set as our goal but we are not a failure either. We trust God that as we enter yet another phase of our assignment, God will grant us divine speed. Just recently, we had a major set back. Some of our seasoned hands completed their term of assignment and have been released to go. The vacuum created is a major blow. To is not enough for us to continue to weep over their exit. God needs help of men and women that will fill the vacancy. In Isaiah 6:8, he declared: “Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?" And I said, "Here am I. Send me!"
Logistic Missionary
The shoes are really big! Who can step into it? Mrs. Abimbola Ayoola served as a Secretary for close to 11 years but a jack of all trade, master of all! She is fear and love God. She is intelligent and highly gifted. As Secretary, she serves as Desktop publisher. She designed all editions of our Heartbeat magazines with the exception of the first few. She typeset and did the layout of all our books with the exceptions of the first edition of our best seller, Agony of Unreached People. She compiled all the reports of the missionaries from the fields. She handled all the administrative functions of the organizations. She serves as Public Relations Officer when the need arise and also handles logistics related issues for the field missionaries. Sometimes, she even got involved in trying to repair our computers when we run into problems. Her quiet counsel and input helped a great deal in many decisions that were taken which helped to move the work further. We will always miss her smiles; this volume is not enough to capture the multidimensional input the ay Bimbo made before she moved on! Who will fill in this shoe? You don’t need to be Bimbo as she is fondly called. All we need is available hand that is willing to learn. A missionary heart is a key prerequisite.
Mother of Many Nations
Monica Oyale Omale never knew the extent GFIM will run with her vision to help the vulnerable kids from unreached people background when she began to keep and take care of the holistic need of some of these kids. We saw how swift the result was ad adopt it as a ministry of not just an individual in the ministry but as a means to actualize our long term dream of raising future leaders for the nations. We named it Unreached Children Home (UCH) and really ran with it.
Today, both at the field level and at the home front in Jos, we have several kids whom may not have been alive today if not for the vision. We praise God for the many hands that have laboured over the kids. Stella Ella rescued Baby Blessing when she was to be buried alive at the age of six months. Blessing is nine years old today. Boubacar Blessing made frantic effort to save one day old baby. She laboured fervently over this boy but after many months, Victor was called to the Lord. Hope Ejiofor came to the stage. She instituted the UCH in Jos and moved selected kids. This graduate of Food Technology contributed her quota before leaving for Onitsha where she is currently involved in mission mobilization. She has a leading to pioneer a larger scale orphanage.
Omotola Akinsehinwa brought a dramatic difference to the UCH. Though smallish in status, her motherly care has no equal. She spent heavily to provide Comfort for the kids. On several occasions, she raised funds from her family and friends to make sure that the kids do not lack the basic things in life. She knew how to get the GFIM leadership to carve out substantial budget for the home. Her one year was like 10year of labour. She gave the kids quality attention. They prayed together. She took time to take them through their class works and supervised their homework. We planned to bring more kids in response to the cry of many of our missionaries in lands where children are grossly abuse. Omotola was donating just her first one year of graduating from the university by serving the Lord but she was more than a Youth Corper. We prayed quietly for God to speak to her heart to stay back but God apparently did not. In tears, we sent her forth.
We need hands to move the UCH forward, a mother of many nations. The kids cut across different nations (ethne). Again, the person must have a missionary heart and be wiling to be a true mother.
The Fund Dimension
If God is not calling you to step into the shoes of Bimbo or Tola, you wish to donate towards the cause of this work. Sometimes, people are scared to respond because of the challenges of how to survive. Unfortunately, many don't believe that we need the service of missionaries in the headquarters, so they are left to starve. Can you kindly give towards the upkeep of these kids, missionaries as well as other projects? You can also pray the God of harvest to send labourers to the vineyard.
God is in need today. You must not be Meroz. Come to his help today and you will be blessed. If God is leading you to be involved, please call +234-803-7054214 or email gracefoundationinternational@yahoo.com.
